Enjoy an alfresco lunch or glass of wine in the enclosed south facing courtyard, or in winter snuggle up in front of the wood burning stove.

Your cottage is only a couple of minutes walk from a friendly village pub that serves food, and just a couple of steps away from the Old School Tea Rooms serving delicious cakes and lunches.

For ramblers and amblers, you can leave you car in the private off road parking and enjoy gentle strolls or longer walks direct from your cottage. You are just a gentle 10 minute stroll from the Cleveland Way Coastal Path at Port Mulgrave, with high exposed cliffs and expansive sweeping panoramas of sea and sky.   Both the heritage fishing villages of  Staithes and Runswick Bay can be reached from your cottage by walking along the Cleveland Way Coastal Path - Staithes in about 55 minutes and Runswick Bay in about 50 minutes.

We know first hand what makes a holiday truly special, That is why we poured our own experience and high standards into creating Sealark Cottage. We wanted to ensure that every guest walks into a beautifully clean, genuinely welcoming and well maintained retreat featuring comfortable beds and those thoughtful little extra touches that make you holiday feel special. 

Sealark was lovingly renovated in September 2024. Everything – from the cosy throws to the welcoming décor – is fresh, modern, and thoughtfully chosen to create a warm, relaxing space. We’ve partnered with Cleaner and Greener, a local eco-conscious team, who use ethical, sustainable products to ensure a spotless clean.

Hinderwell is ideally situated for exploring the North York Moors National Park.  The heritage coastal fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay are just a few minutes drive away. Imagine red roofed and white washed fishing cottages tumbling  towards the sea,  twisting cobbled alleys, a sweeping beach ideal for dog walking, rock pooling and fossil hunting,  art galleries, cosy village pubs, dramatic cliffs etc.

Whitby with the gothic abbey, 199 steps, medieval yards and steam trains is just 8 miles away. 

Within a half hour drive you can visit  the moorland and coastal villages of  Sandsend, Lealholm, Danby, Grosmont, Goathland. 

 

 Wonderful week spent in a perfect cottage, great attention to detail, information book and welcome packs etc. Enjoyed evenings in by the log fire and great walks during the day around the local area. Thanks again for the thoughtful touches around the cottage.
