Dogs
We are dog lovers and have always had dogs. Our dogs, Bracken and Star love spending time at Sealark Cottage. We welcome dogs at Sealark Cottage, a max of 2 dogs. Dogs are charged at £35 each to allow for additional cleaning time. Sealark is always extremely clean and our cleaners spend extra time ensuring that it is spotless after dogs have been in the house. Your dog will get a welcome treat on arrival.
Our courtyard style garden is enclosed. Although there is no grass in the garden, you can walk directly from site and within a couple of minutes you can be a grassy track.
Hinderwell is a great place for dogs and dog walking. The nearby beaches at Staithes and Runswick Bay do not have any dog restrictions on them. There are so many beautiful places you can take your dog and many of the eating establishments allow dogs. There are great walks from site and further afield. Please just be aware to keep your dog on a lead near livestock and also near the cliff edges.
The North York Moors National Park has some great walks for dogs - NYMNP walks for dogs
Please see the booking terms and conditions about dogs- including dogs must be up to date with flea and worming treatment. They are not allowed upstairs (unless they are assistance dogs) and must not be left in the cottage when you go out. We provide a sofa cover to use so that our sofa stays clean.
Please bring your dog's bed, plus towels to clean/dry them. We have an outdoor cold water tap for washing muddy paws or there is a Petacarium dog washer which you can use with warm water and take out with you. The utility room is ideal for drying dogs after a wet walk. We provide a box of dog essentials just in case you forget to bring anything with you. Please bring a torch for night time dog walking - some of the lanes around Sealark Cottage are not lit.
There is a section in the guide at Sealark Cottage with suggestions of places you can take dogs. If you wish to book a secure dog walking field there is one at Loftus, 6 miles away. Hollywell Farm Dog Field
10 things to do with dogs on your holiday at Sealark Cottage
- Our favourite off lead dog walk is about 10 minutes drive away at Cattersty Sands. Cattersty Sands is a great expanse of beach at low tide and an ideal walk to tire your dog out. There are no facilities here, just sand and sea.
- The walk over from Sealark to Staithes, via Port Mulgrave is a great walk with far reaching views. This goes along the coastal path though so dogs need to be on lead. If you want to browse art work, Staithes gallery also allows dogs
